2025 Oscar Nominations: Predicting the Movies and Actors to Watch

Hey everyone! So, the Oscars are always a huge deal, right? I mean, who doesn't love a good awards show? But seriously, trying to predict the nominations for something that's still almost a year away? That's a whole other level of crazy. But hey, that's what makes it fun! This is my totally unscientific, based-mostly-on-gut-feeling predictions for the 2025 Academy Awards. Buckle up, buttercup, this is gonna be a wild ride!

Predicting the Best Picture Nominees

This is always the toughest category, and it's a real crap shoot this far out. But I'm gonna go out on a limb and throw some names in the ring. I'm thinking we'll probably see a few big-budget blockbusters vying for the top prize. Something like a Marvel flick (maybe Avengers: The Kang Dynasty sequel or something if they're still going strong) is a definite possibility.

But let's be real, the Oscars love those indie darlings, too. So, I’m predicting we might see a smaller, character-driven drama, like maybe something with strong performances and a thought-provoking story about societal issues. My wild card? Maybe a stunning animated feature that breaks all the barriers.

My gut says: I'm predicting Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Part 2 (purely for box office clout!), a moving drama about climate change, and a critically-acclaimed animated film. I'm honestly clueless about the other two. I need to do more research! Insert frantic research here

Best Actor & Actress: Who's Got the Edge?

This is where it gets REALLY interesting. I mean, there are so many talented actors and actresses out there. But if I had to place my bets right now, based on current buzz and upcoming projects, I’d say...

Best Actor: This is tough. I have a feeling that there'll be several strong contenders. Perhaps a veteran actor giving a career-defining performance in a smaller film? Or maybe a fresh face will completely shock us all. It’s honestly too early to say. Remember that time I predicted [insert past inaccurate prediction and laugh about it]? Yeah, let's not repeat that.

Best Actress: Similar to Best Actor, this is a complete mystery. But I'm keeping my eye out for actresses starring in intense thrillers or complex character studies that demand a lot from them. Look for those who can convincingly portray range and emotional depth! The roles themselves will be as important as the actors.

Beyond the Big Categories: Supporting Roles and More

Don't forget about the other categories, folks! Best Supporting Actor and Actress are always packed with talent. Plus, there's Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Adapted Screenplay... the list goes on. Seriously, there are so many different categories that it can be hard to keep track!

I'm pretty sure that at least one movie that is currently in development in my favorite genre, Sci-fi, will get nominated, but I'm clueless about which one. We'll just have to wait and see!

My Biggest Mistake (And What I Learned)

Last year, I completely missed the mark on the Best Animated Feature. I was so focused on the big studios that I totally overlooked the smaller, independent animation that ended up winning. The lesson? Don't underestimate the power of independent films, or those smaller studios that don't get as much press. This year I’m keeping my eye on every possible candidate.

Bottom line: Predicting the Oscars this far out is a fool's errand, but it's fun to speculate! Let’s make sure we're keeping our eyes peeled and keeping the predictions coming.
