Man Utd vs Rangers: My Lineup Prediction & Why I'm Nervous (and Excited!)

Rangers' Likely Formation and Potential Threats

Predicting Rangers' lineup is a bit trickier. Michael Beale might opt for a 4-3-3, possibly even a 3-4-3. But I think it'll be a 4-3-3. They're likely to play a very direct style to test Manchester United's defense which is something they might struggle with at times. Keep an eye on players like Tillman and Cantwell. Those guys can unlock defenses and cause serious damage. The wingers should cause some problems.

Specifically, James Tavernier could be a major threat, not just from set pieces but from his crosses in open play, as well. He will be one of the most important players on the field. Don't underestimate his influence. Their ability to counter-attack will be something Man United must be wary of. They've got pace and power.

Why I'm (Slightly) Worried

Let's be real; this isn't a guaranteed win for United. Rangers are a strong side, and friendlies can be deceptive. Sometimes, teams that don’t have as much pressure will play with a lot more freedom. Plus, United are still bedding in new players and finding their rhythm. I always worry about tactical flexibility – Ten Hag needs to read the game perfectly and adjust as needed. A poor start from Man Utd can make for a tense afternoon.
