New Doom Game: PS5 May 15 - My Hype is REAL!

Okay, folks, let's talk about the thing that's been consuming my thoughts for, like, the past six months: the new Doom game hitting PS5 on May 15th! I'm so hyped, you wouldn't believe it. Seriously, I've been refreshing the PlayStation Store page like a maniac. I even accidentally bought a Doom Eternal soundtrack twice because I was so distracted. Rookie mistake, I know. 😂

My Doom History (and a Few Epic Fails)

I've been a Doom fan since...well, since the original Doom. My older brother had it on his ancient PC – think dial-up internet, CRT monitor, the whole nine yards. We spent hours blasting demons. It was awesome! The sound effects alone were terrifyingly amazing. Remember that? The thump-thump-thump of the heavy metal and the screeches of the imps? Man, those were the days.

Fast forward to present day, and I'm still a sucker for a good first-person shooter. I’ve played every single Doom game since. Okay, almost every one. I still haven't finished Doom 3. Don't judge me! It was kinda creepy, and I was a little kid back then. My biggest regret? Selling my original Doom II copy on eBay back in the early 2000s! I got, like, $20 bucks for it. Now they're collectors items! 😭 I've learned my lesson. Never sell my games again!

Pre-ordering Woes and Other Tips

So, naturally, pre-ordering the new Doom game was a MUST. But here’s where things get interesting… I almost messed it up! I went to pre-order it at midnight on the day they announced it. My internet crapped out at the most critical moment! 😩 I nearly had a meltdown. I mean, the pre-order bonus is pretty awesome: a new weapon skin. It's not just any skin, folks, it's a limited edition skin. That added extra motivation to get things right! So I learned a valuable lesson there: always check your internet connection before you make important purchases. And have a backup plan — or maybe two. Don't be like me!

What to Expect from the New Doom Game (Based on Leaks and Rumors!)

Okay, enough about my blunders. Let's talk about the game itself. Based on trailers and rumors (I follow all the Doom-related subreddits, don’t judge!), this new game looks INSANE. The graphics are next-level, way beyond anything I've seen before. The gameplay looks smoother, faster and more intense! We're talking about a new arsenal of weapons, improved demon AI, and what seems to be a completely revamped story. We even may have new characters to meet! Seriously, check out some gameplay previews on YouTube, because the description really doesn’t do it justice.

Pro-tip: If you're a hardcore Doom fan, like myself, start clearing space on your PS5 now. This game is going to be HUGE. You’re gonna need it! Plus, check your internet speed before ordering. You know, from my earlier experience…

My Expectations: Absolutely Off the Charts!

I expect blood. Lots of it. Glorious, gory, pixel-perfect blood. I'm also hoping for a challenging but fair difficulty. I don't want something that's ridiculously easy – it needs that classic Doom difficulty! But I also don't want a game that makes me want to throw my controller at the wall. A balanced experience would be really nice. So, fingers crossed this is the best Doom yet!

May 15th can't come soon enough! I'm already planning a gaming marathon with my friends, complete with pizza, energy drinks, and maybe even a few of those special Doom-themed collector items. It's gonna be epic. And, hey, if you're getting the game too, let me know! Maybe we can play together!
