Parker's Pregnancy Announcement: A Rollercoaster of Emotions (and Ultrasound Pics!)

Okay, guys, so you know how I’ve been super MIA lately? Yeah, well, there’s a reason for that. A really big reason. I'm pregnant! 🤯 I know, right? It's still kind of surreal, even though I'm already, like, halfway through.

This whole journey has been...a whirlwind. A beautiful, terrifying, utterly exhausting whirlwind. Let me take you back to the beginning.

The Suspense (and the Tests!)

It all started with, well, suspicion. My period was late – a whole week late! Panic mode engaged immediately. I swear, I took like five pregnancy tests. Five! The first three were negative, and I was so relieved...and then bummed because I’d really hoped I was pregnant. But then, test number four...that little plus sign appeared. It was faint, almost invisible, but it was there. Test number five confirmed it. Positive. Pregnant.

I'm not even going to lie, I was a mess. Happy tears mixed with utter terror. I mean, my husband, David, was thrilled, but I was thinking "Oh my god, what have I done?!" It was crazy.

Telling David (and the Vomit)

Telling David was...interesting. I decided to do it super dramatically, getting him a "World's Best Dad" mug, complete with a tiny pair of baby booties tucked inside. He's a sucker for sentimental stuff. He absolutely flipped, then he proceeded to hug me so tightly I thought I might pass out. That's when the morning sickness really hit. I swear, I nearly vomited all over his celebratory champagne. Good times!

The First Ultrasound

That first ultrasound was probably the most amazing moment of my entire life. Seeing that little blob on the screen, hearing that tiny heartbeat...it was unreal. I cried. David cried. Even the ultrasound technician, bless her heart, had a little happy tear in her eye. We got that precious image printed out, and its still stuck to our fridge. It’s the best fridge art ever!

The Challenges (and the Cravings!)

Pregnancy is HARD, you guys. I mean, really hard. The fatigue is something else – there were days I seriously questioned my ability to function. Then there were the cravings. Oh, the cravings. It was pickles and ice cream one day and then hot dogs with mustard the next. My poor poor digestive system! I know, not the healthiest choices, but hey, give me a break! It’s a pregnancy thing.

I've also struggled with anxiety. All those "what ifs" – will everything be okay? Will I be a good mom? This is the kind of worry that keeps many pregnant women up at night! So, I'm seeing a therapist to help me manage that. The doctor recommended it, so now it is part of my prenatal care and pregnancy plan. This is something I highly recommend to anyone expecting.

Advice for Expecting Mamas

If you're pregnant, or even thinking about it, here's some advice from a seasoned (well, relatively seasoned!) mama-to-be:

  • Listen to your body: Don’t push yourself too hard. Rest when you need to.
  • Talk to someone: Whether it's your partner, a friend, family member, or a therapist, talking about your fears and anxieties is crucial. It's okay to not be okay.
  • Find a good doctor/midwife: This is so important. You want someone you trust and feel comfortable with.
  • Eat healthy (most of the time!): Indulge in your cravings, but try to balance it with nutritious foods.
  • Embrace the changes: Your body is doing amazing things. Celebrate it.

That's my pregnancy update, folks. It’s been a roller coaster, but a beautiful one. I'll keep you all posted on my progress. Wish me luck! And send chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.
