Ugh, so, the news is out. Splendour in the Grass 2025 is officially cancelled. I'm still kind of reeling, to be honest. I know, I know, it's not totally unexpected – they've had some… issues… in recent years, let's just say. But a straight-up cancellation? That stings. Especially since I'd already booked my flights and accommodation. Yep, that much commitment. Major bummer.

My Splendour Story (and my epic fail)

Let's rewind a few years. My first Splendour was in, like, 2017. I remember being so hyped. The lineup was killer – I saw Lorde, and, like, a bunch of other bands I still can't even remember, that's how good the music was. But it wasn't just the music. The atmosphere, the people, the mud (yes, the mud – it was a classic Splendour mud year!), it was just… magic. Pure, unadulterated festival magic.

Fast forward to 2019. I was going again! This time, I was super organised. I planned my outfits (this is important, people!), booked my campsite way early, even mapped out my travel plans. I felt like a seasoned Splendour pro. Then, BAM! A massive thunderstorm. The kind that makes you question all your life choices. My tent? Total washout. My carefully planned outfits? Soaked and muddy. I spent most of the Friday huddled under a tree trying to salvage my dignity (and my phone). That was a low point. A truly low point.

The practical fallout of Splendour's cancellation

Now, the 2025 cancellation? It's a different kind of heartbreak. It's the heartbreak of anticipation dashed. The cancellation means scrambling to get refunds – which, let me tell you, is a whole other adventure in itself. I already spent hours wading through ticketmaster. I’m pretty sure I aged 5 years doing that alone. I'm still waiting on my accommodation refund, and those flights? Ugh, don't even get me started. Okay, so, Splendour 2025 is off. That's a tough pill to swallow. But look on the bright side: I've got a whole bunch of money to either save or put towards a different adventure. Maybe a smaller, less chaotic festival? Or, you know, a relaxing beach vacation? A more controlled environment? The possibilities are (almost) endless. I'll make sure to keep my eyes peeled for similar events happening around the same time. And I'll definitely be doing more research before I book anything next time.

This year's cancellation is a real disappointment, that's for sure. I’m already mourning the loss of seeing my favourite bands perform live. But hopefully, they'll be back in the future, and maybe I’ll be ready with better preparation to attend then.
